Steve and Rhonda Derksen are the proud owners of Highmark Construction & Renovation Ltd. located in Winnipeg, MB. They originally established Highmark in Brandon, MB in 2009, and later moved the company to Winnipeg, MB in 2015.

Highmark was created through Steve's passion for building new and remodelling old spaces. Steve has an outstanding ability for problem-solving and creating new. Steve has a Red Seal in both Carpentry and Sheet Metal. Steve has guided multiple individuals through the Red Seal carpentry program over the years and loves investing time into the future generation by passing down his expertise in the industry. Steve truly has an admirable passion and drive for what he does, aside from running the company he has built 6 of his own houses in the evenings and weekends. He also enjoys spending time with his family, and friends and snowmobiling in his spare time.
Rhonda is the backbone of the company's success with her eye for design, ability to bring your vision to life and then some, she is also our Draftsperson and she is the friendly voice you will often communicate project details with. Rhonda also has extensive knowledge in carpentry which means she can design a space that is not only beautiful and eye-capturing but most importantly practical for everyday use while making sure all industry standards are met. While Rhonda wears many hats in our company, she excels in every area naturally due to her strong love for what she does. Apart from work, Rhonda looks forward to every bit of time spent with family and friends, travelling when she can, gardening and hiking during our warm months.
Cameron has been with Highmark for 6 years. He completed the Red Seal Carpentry program and is a Journeyman Carpenter as of February 2023. Cameron is a man of many talents but specifically has the eye for the fine details that may be overlooked by others and it shows in all his projects big or small. Often at job sites people assume Cameron is Steve's son which was not true until Cameron married Steve and Rhonda's daughter Samantha in 2023. Cameron recently just completed building his first home on the side for him and his wife. Aside from Cameron's passion to build, he is a great outdoors man who loves fishing, hunting, camping and hiking.
Samantha was born into Construction with Steve and Rhonda being her parents and then married a carpenter, Cameron. Naturally Samantha fit into the company well, she brings fresh ideas, solutions, organization and vibrance to the business. Samantha has worked with Highmark for 1 year now, keeping the books in order and running the social media, creating content, graphic design and creating new marketing strategies. Samantha recently graduated with a degree in Human Nutrition Sciences and has a love for all things food, cooking, baking and of course nutrition.

“After receiving several quotes and meeting with various contractors, we decided to work with Rhonda & Steve for our renovation project. Our project included a major kitchen renovation with structural changes that required engineering to raise an adjacent sunken solarium floor, taking out walls and moving windows and doors. Windows were replaced with large garden doors and adjacent full length side lites that spanned the entire North East wall. Rhonda & Steve were professional in assisting in the design process. The workmanship was excellent. The work site was always cleaned and tidy which was especially important since we were living in the house while the renovations took place.
